Dunhill's Three Year Matured: Tasting Notes

Dunhill's Three Year Matured Virginia is back. Another blend with a cult following, we are proud to be able to offer the revival of this classic exclusively. Naturally, the anticipation over the last few months had me absolutely ecstatic when the product finally arrived. I immediately dropped what I was doing and purchased a few tins. Wasting no time at all, I popped one of them and began loading a bowl. After a few days and more than a handful of bowls (in a few different pipes), I wanted to share just how pleased I am with the return of this classic blend.

If you're a Virginia smoker, do yourself a favor and squirrel away a stack of Three Year Matured in your cellar — keep a few within arm's reach for instant gratification. I also wanted to note that I believe this to be closer to the old Dunhill production, as the topping is very subtle, and the cut is finer, when compared to Murray's production. Enjoy!

I may have to give this one a shot. I gave the flake a try and couldn't get over a citrusy sour taste I experienced. Also, thanks for reviewing this without analyzing it in a manner that made me feel I was being talked down to. I really appreciate that about you guys at smokingpipes

Josh, Three Year Matured and the Flake are on opposite ends of the Virginia spectrum. While I do enjoy the Flake myself, this is richer, stronger, and pretty much void of anything close to citrus. Definitely give it a shot if any of that appeals to you! And be sure to let us know what you think.

I enjoyed this blend. I was worried about the "fruit essence" a bit as I'm not a aro smoker. I felt this was really clean, earthy, and bold. I didn't get any citrus notes as well. I really liked it. Glad to have something new (I never tried the original) from Dunhill for my collection. I really enjoy their blends.

I definitely understand the concern, Bryan, which is why I wanted to make it clear just how subtle the essence is. This blend is like a younger sibling to Royal Yacht more than anything, which is great news in my book!
