Welcome back to the Mystery Cigar Review! This month is special — very special — because of Halloween, yes, but also for our October inquisitor. We've previously featured Rocky Patel on the show as a brand, but today our guest inquisitor is none other than the man himself: Mr. Rocky Patel.
Rocky was an entertainment lawyer in Los Angeles before starting the Indian Tabac brand in 1996. The Rocky Patel cigar company premiered in 2003 and grew to become one of the giants of the cigar industry. With production currently around 20,000,000 cigars per year, there's high-volume consumption in many of their lines, but Rocky has developed a number of limited-edition cigars in recent years, with components perfectly selected for single runs unduplicated after the last box is sealed. With a wide range of flavor profiles available, enthusiasts can be confident of perfect construction because each stick is vacuum tested for draw pressure before the final cap is applied. This attention to detail yields only cigars with superlative smoking qualities, flavor, and construction at the pinnacle of manufacturing.
As you can see, we faced a challenge this month. Could Rocky have chosen a forthcoming limited-edition stick? Possibly a cigar that has been aging for years? Join us as Truett, Tyler, Alan, and I smoke through Rocky's chosen cigar in an attempt to guess the binder, wrapper, filler, and country of origin in a blind taste test. Did we guess correctly?
