Mystery Tobacco Review: June 2021
Welcome back to another episode of the Mystery Tobacco Review! For this month's installment, we were honored to host another new guest Inquisitor: master leatherworker, pipe smoker, and industry icon, Mr. Claudio Albieri. From the Ferrara region of Italy, Claudio Albieri is a master craftsman of fine leather goods, and his work elevates our hobby with a range of exceptional pipe bags, tobacco pouches, presentation boxes, and other accessories custom made for pipe smokers. Among the humblest humans we've had the pleasure of knowing, Claudio kindly accepted our challenge and selected one blend for Shane, Truett, and me to review in a blind taste test. Did we guess it right? Or did Claudio pull a surprise out of this handcrafted leather bag? Check out the full review above to see how we fared. And don't forget to check out some of Claudio's work here.
Did you enjoy this month's Mystery Tobacco Review? Were you able to guess the blend? Leave us a comment below with your thoughts.
What is The Mystery Tobacco Review?
For those of you unfamiliar with this little game, each month one member of our team selects a tobacco for us to review in a blind taste-test. Then we gather around the camera, scratch our heads, and smoke, all while attempting to guess the mysterious mixture's components, origins, and name. There's only one rule: There are no rules.

Claudio’s reveal video segment is possibly one of the finest examples of the camaraderie amongst the “brotherhood of the briar” I’ve encountered. What a classy, genuine guy - not to mention; world class artisan. The relational aspect is difficult to quantify - but as I rock on my porch in the coastal Carolina breeze sipping a pipeful of 2yr old Red Odessa, my enjoyment was increased by connecting (digitally) with some of my “brothers” of the leaf. I’m so thankful you guys continue to run the mystery smoke segment and want offer a “well done” and a happy Independence Day to those of you residing in the states!
