Name That Pipe Maker
If you haven't seen it already, this year's Smokingpipes poster featured a tribute to the father of modern fantasy literature (and one of the most renowned pipe smokers in history) with a depiction of what the famous author's desk may have looked like. On the reverse side, however, we did something a little fun with a spread of unmarked pipe silhouettes. The objective here was to guess which makers or artisans correspond to each pipe. Some of them should be obvious, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't get stumped on a few of them.
Now that the poster's been out for a while, we thought it'd be cool to put the matching game up on the blog so all of you could quiz yourselves online. So go ahead. Can you identify them all? You can check your answers here.

So this is an odd question. My grandfater died in the Korean War before my mother was born. After his passing his effects were lost. 35 years pss and a stranger locates my mother and gives her his effects. Inside of his footlocker which had been sealed for 50 years we discover about 7-8 tobacco pipes. There are 2 specifically i was wondering if you could help me identify it looks like both are untouched brand new from Japan. They are American style pipes very smooth and ornate paintings on them. I cannot find any other idetifying markers on them. Would greatly appriciate the help if possible.
@Chris Wow, that is an amazing story! We can absolutely try and help identify them, though it may be difficult without any markings. I will send you an email to help from here!
