About This Pipe

Peter Hedegaard took an interesting direction with the grain of this plump, broad-chambered straight Tomato - literally. Rather than your usual vertical orientation of the flame grain, he rendered this briar with it sweeping back across the pipe, with the short, softer-looking strokes on the bowl's flanks, and the longer, more defined ones running the length of shank and underside working together to give the pipe an appearance of hurtling through the air, on fire. It works on vintage'40s and '50s hot-rods, so why not for a Danish pipe? Both, after all, tend to feature a lot of great curves - and this one most certainly does.
