Former Sandblast Billiard with Horn Ferrule (9mm) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe

"Quiet, simple, elegant" are some of the words that come to mind when I think of the work by Hans "Former" Nielson (in the case of this pipe, we can add "large"). When you have been carving for more than four decades you can let the quality of your work speak for you. Former pipes do not shout. The traditional shapes are perfectly executed, with an eye toward his native Danish aesthetic. This sandblast billiard is a great example. The shaping of the bowl is deft, only to be equaled by a liquid smooth transition from the bowl to the shank. The body and shank boasts a stellar combination of ring and fan grain and the latter is capped with a lovely horn mount.
