About This Pipe

The Ben Wade brand was used by Preben Holm for the US market after an intellectual property dispute made it impossible for him to use the Preben Holm name on his pipes that were going to the US. There wasn't any difference in quality or anything else between the Preben Holm pipes and the Ben Wade pipes: they were the same pipes, just under different names. The Hand Model occupies a pretty rarified stratum in the Preben/Wade hierarchy and the '600' grade is really high among those. We've only ever seen one other '600' grade Hand Model. Interesting shape, beautifully grained, this is a seriously rare piece of Danish pipe making history from the early 1970s.
