About This Pipe

I made a pipe a few years ago that was a direct copy of a 2,000 year old oil lamp discovered in the holy lands. At first glance, I thought it was an old clay pipe. Long story short, I made a matched example out of briar - that was sandblasted- and complete with a stem. One of the lamps had a small protuberance that was meant has a pinching handle for walking around. When I first saw this piece, I was reminded of the same protuberance. It is different from a clay cutty, where the spur is designed to hold the pipe, but this could serve the same purpose if desired. There are also quite a bit of Rolando Negoita gourd aspects going on here. This is a very cool shape.
