Peter Klein is a bit difficult to classify. He's a German, but he lives and makes pipes in Denmark, and stylistically he's equally adept at rendering classic shapes of English, Danish, or Italian style, as well as freehands. In this case, we find what could be interpreted as a classic Danish shape with the fuller bowl proportions of artisans like, say S. Bang, though the flow and style of shank and stem, combined with the firm shaping of the Brandy bowl, suggests to me that the late German master Rainier Barbi may have been the real influence behind this design. Either way, it's a lovely bit of work, graceful, yet more active than supple, and which combines a handy length with a generously proportioned bowl and chamber.
