No matter how much one has perfected their own style, the greatest artisans typically recommend you keep in practice concerning the simple classics - the fundamental designs upon which your most basic skills are formed and tested. Claudio Cavicchi is particularly known for his fondness of the Lovat, considering it one of the most challenging shapes - and evidently Jeff Gracik shares at least some of that sentiment as well. So it is that we find here an exquisite rendition of that very same simple classic, executed in Danish style. Clean, smooth, and sporting a smart balance between the lofty bowl and trim, subtly-tapered shank and crisp slip of a stem, there's no doubt that this Lovat is the work of truly skilled hands. It even sits, which I'll admit came as a bit of surprise given the rounded-bottom, Brandy-style bowl.
