About This Pipe
Chris appears to have taken some bold cues from the Italian style here, with this broad-bowled, big-chambered bent Pot, which sports a jutting, weighty heel; a theme particular of that school. He's rendered it here though with a smoother, longer transition, which combined with the aforementioned heel gives the bowl itself an illusion of being subtly stretched length-wise into a slight oval. The shaping is very masculine overall, in a polished style, but also very natural in hand. He's finished it off with a warm amber/walnut stain with a gentle contrast, paired up to an acrylic stem with a look which has the look of a blend of horn and mocha. As odd as that combination may sound, it actually complements the briar perfectly.
