About This Pipe
This is some of Paolo's avant-garde shaping at its very finest. There is not one line or angle of this composition that is at odds with what collectors have come to know as the cherrywood shape, and yet this stunning Three Hearts looks rather unlike an interpretation of the shape that you have ever seen, unless that interpretation was from Becker. A deliciously long, cylindrical bowl is balanced to perfection by a shank and bit combination that seems to go on forever, and that bowl features an envelope pushing, organic curvature that is the most pronounced that I have seen from the carver to date. As far as the grain goes, as you can clearly see in Adrienne's fabulous photos, this Three Hearts earned that stamp honesty.
