About This Pipe
When the Perla Nera dress finish was first introduced the shapes available within the line were extremely limited, shape numbers were never stamped upon the bowl (that's still pretty rare), and there was nary a "K" rating assigned to any that hit the US market. Though not stamped as such (huge surprise there), this is Castello's shape 33, to quoth the Castello site copy; "Short fat squat chubby Canadian or oval shank Pot". Quite generous of bowl, and given that it's a pretty long stretch to associate a "K" with the grain, I'm pretty dumbfounded that this Perla only pulled a KK grade. Then again, Castellos are batch graded, and I didn't get to see the batch.
