About This Pipe

(Channeling George Bush sr.) "Not gonna call it a Rhodesian, not gonna go there, wouldn't be prudent." Twin beading does not a rhodesian make and yet calling this one a bent dublin is as satisfying as giving a friend a "Socks r Us" gift card for their birthday. Still, it really isn't a calabash. What's a titler/describer to do?! Why, move right on to the killer grain, of course (wink). Slipping a sleeve onto the bit, while I wouldn't want to carry this pipe in the jaw all day long, it certainly wouldn't be a trial to hold it thus for a minute while both hands were occupied with a quick chore. Sure, this pipe has a deep bend and deep bends are notoriously resistant to the pipe cleaner test. I have never run across a Cavicchi that didn't pass the pipe cleaner test. Still, deep bents, no matter who crafted the briars, find my hands reaching for a pipe cleaner (think of it as a rash that you know you shouldn't scratch. but damned if ya don't anyway). I flipped a cleaner into the button, and there was so little resistance, that I could have sworn I heard a "clunk" when it hit the inside of the tobacco chamber. Claudio? One day I will catch you, just not today.
