About This Pipe
Although the under-bowl spur is purely vestigial on briar cutties, Claudio Cavicchi has in this case chosen to accentuate it to the point where it becomes essential to maintaining the bowl's visual balance. This in turn has allowed for a more aggressive cant and softer, smoother heel, which without the enlarged spur would have given the pipe an appearance of falling forward. Granted this deft addition, on the other hand, the briar attains a wonderful balance, uniquely dynamic and active.
