About This Pipe
An Army Mount allows you to get away with a greater independence between the shaping of the stem and briar than the usual mortise-and-tenon affair. Just looking at the profile of this Dunhill Bruyere you can see that while both bowl/shank and stem possess soft lines, the way in which they meet at the sterling silver mount set them apart. The result is that they each work more as a complementary accessory to the other, than as a uniform, less distinguishable whole.
