About This Pipe

This shape was (more or less) originated with Sixten Ivarsson and unlike most of the esoteric classics, there is very little standardization of naming. Depending on the carver, it might be called a "ukulele", a "sarcophagus" or in Tom's case an "eskimo". The eskimo is a shape that one doesn't see a ton of from this Tom, heck, this is only the sixth we have ever had. Having said that, Tom does an exquisite job with the shape, and his eskimo interpretation is decidedly his own. This magnificent Snail grade is awash (top and bottom) in a beautiful birdseye. Team that grain up with the famous Eltang "Golden Contrast" stain, and you have a pipe that could stop a conversation from across a room.
