Smooth Horn with Mastodon Ivory Tobacco Pipe

When I picked up this pipe for the first time I had to resist a strong urge to pack a bowl of my favorite tobacco in it and smoke the thing on the spot. It's that good looking and it's that comfortable in the hand. I can't always say both about a Horn, but thankfully Tom Eltang has got the right stuff. This is not a shape that the Danish pipe maker comes back to very often, but when he does we are always as delighted as we are stunned. When it comes to the Horn, Tom tends towards an underarching flow that imparts a sense of grace and elegance missing from a lot of similarly shaped pieces by other pipe makers. Although the rim and sides of the bowl boast a cross cut grain of mesmerizing beauty, the birdseye on the back of the bowl and at the front in particular is absolutely staggering. Now, to continue to resist the urge to smoke this pipe.
