About This Pipe
Though the Nautilus shape is typically rendered with its tail-end carved out to form an open loop, here Peter Heding went for something simpler and more robust of look. Of course, leaving the curve of the "tail end" as solid briar also happened to give him a bit more canvas on which to display the truly knock-out flame grain that completely dressed both flanks of this paneled variation, too. Did I say flanks? Well, not just there - the rim is no slouch either, showing that Peter really picked out just the right piece of plateau briar to match the curl of this unique shape style, something which is further evidenced by the gorgeous birdseye crowded in along the full length and breadth of the smoothly curved underside.
