About This Pipe
Oscar Wilde once mused, "It is the spectator, and not life, that art really mirrors". Though, on some existentialist plane, we might be able to apply that to this masterpiece from Dr. Peter Heding. On its most basic level, this piece of art reveals a mirror unto itself and then lets us take our thinking where it will. While my six semesters of biology briefly took their toll, (my initial sense was a picture, snapped near the end of first cellular division), the side vantage delighted the botanist in me, with a beautiful abstraction of a seedling having broken through the earth and spreading its first tentative leaves toward the sun. Then again, as Mr. Wilde observed in the above, art reflects the spectator, and I have little doubt that you might see a myriad of forms that have escaped me. Of what I have little doubt, is that we will be in utter concert on the Peter's immaculate engineering and fastidious attention to detail, as well as this briar's superlative grain. Truly incredible!
