About This Pipe
The Diamond grade is something that Peter Heding uses sparingly, if records serve, this is only the 8th one that we have received that has made it to the site, and it is a dazzler! The Lion is Peter's shape and certainly one of my personal favorites in his repertoire to date. A Lion approaches the briar in such a way that the dead front of the pipe is a "sun" of tight birdseye, with rays of cross cut grain expanding in all directions from that center. The net effect of the tight, unidirectional grain really does remind one of a lion's mane. With all this cross grain on the front, one would expect the back to have a great birdseye, and this Lion will, in no way, disappoint. Peter's bamboo work is top flight and quite complementary to this stain.
