Sandblasted Billiard with Horn Tobacco Pipe

To paraphrase a legendary Danish carver, almost anyone can make a freehand, but it takes a real carver to make a perfectly shaped dublin. "The Standards" are a real bear to create when you shape by hand. Let's face it, what pipe consumer doesn't have a pretty good template of what a straight billiard is supposed to look like, floating around in their noggin? Brad does an exemplary job with this right wicked billiard. While maintaining what we have come to think of as the American shaping aesthetic (large, hand filling bowl, with proportionally balanced, thick shank that eschews a taper). This constrained muscularity is further enhanced with the addition of a shorter saddle bit and that bit boasts a magnificent inlay of horn. The tight, interlocking combination of ring and fan grain on the bowl is a thing of wonder.
