Smooth Bent Acorn Tobacco Pipe

This is one of the finest pipes I've seen from Brad Pohlmann. The shape is superbly executed and the grain is just magnificent. Superb straight and flame grain march right around the bowl, extend up the shank, and terminate into nice birdseye on the beautifully rounded rim. The flaring shank complements and balances the squat acorn shaped bowl. The two meet with the shank pinching as it enters the bowl, accentuating the visual interplay between the two primary elements. The shape of the bowl strikes me as very reminiscent of some of Lars Ivarsson's shapes, but the shank is something of a departure from that influence. And, as one would expect from the painstakingly meticulous former machinist, every little detail of the piece is very carefully seen to. The result is beautiful.
