About This Pipe
I'm rather fond of the hawkbill shape, and I freely admit it may color my impression of this particular example, seeing as how Luigi Radice has been known to produce quite a few of the finest examples. (Some even claim he invented the shape, though he has been reported as denying it; stating that while he worked at the Castello shop where it originated, and made quite a lot of them, he is unsure who was first to produce one.) This one is finely formed, underside of shank and bowl blending seamlessly, while the stem remains clearly defined in it's fierce, aquiline arch against the soft, full roundness of the bowl.
