About This Pipe
While every pipe collector has his own personal take on adornment/accessories, I have to confess than I am personally quite taken with the use of horn. And, when it comes to an affinity for working with horn, how many carvers out there can outpace the legendary Tom Eltang?! This Sara Eltang straight billiard features a fine crosscut grain and birdseye in what I have come to think of as a "reverse English" placement; cross on the sides and birdseye on the fore and aft. Come to think of it, I guess we could make a case for the pattern being a Danish pattern. I have to run the thesis by my adviser first.
