About This Pipe
This squat Apple by Lasse Skovgaard is everything it should be: a perfectly shaped bowl (closer to a Prince or Pot than some strange oblong fruit) and a long, lean shank and stem. I suppose this piece could have been called a Prince, but the bowl's rotundness and pronounced cheeks are a little more extraordinary than those found on the classic English shape. Add to that the pipe's paneled underside and subtle saddle stem and you've got something clearly out of orthodoxy. Par for the course is Lasse's wonderful sandblast. His ability to bring out some really fine texture around the briar's growth rings is simply uncanny. This is a lovely little piece.
