About This Pipe

Picking up this magnificent horn from the tray, I flipped this pipe over, and looked for the "eagle". This had to be a Teddy Knudsen. Much to my shock this pipe was made by Japanese master, Hiroyuki Tokutomi. "Shock" might be an exaggeration, in retrospect. Teddy and Hiroyuki are friends, and draw ideas and inspiration from one another. The overall execution is very "Teddy", I have seen the outline, rim, and mount many a time in the Dane's work. Even the geologic plateau eruption is reminiscent of the man. Toku-san adds a good deal of his spirit in creating broader sides panel, and confining the plane of the rear panel a bit more then Teddy tends to. The cross cut grain of this pipe is phenomenal, the pattern on the rim is perfectly echoed in the mount. This pipe is a real find for Tokutomi enthusiast. Heck this pipe is a great find for any collector of high grade pipes!
