About This Pipe
Hiroyuki Tokutomi's legendary liquid asymmetry and its accompanying sense of the organic, subtly wraps a dublin bowl and then the bowl is visually anchored by the more architectural tenba (peg) style shank. The bowl and shank sharing a common base not only provides enhanced stability, but aids in the delightful cohesion of distinctly differing forms. The grain is delightful and provides coverage for virtually all side views, with only a tiny bit of wash being found on the rear of the shank. Once again, Toku-san manages to impart such a palpable sense of "soft" that you almost have to shake your head to remind yourself that structure is ridged. It's pretty amazing how much can be communicated in a whisper.
