About This Pipe
The Tsuge carvers that are assigned to the Ikebana pipes always seem to show a superior affinity for the egg and acorn shape, and the "F" grade Ikebana before you would be a fine example. The "egg" that is the bowl is perfectly shaped, wonderfully predictable in its regularity, and boasts a straight grain that is "finer than angel's hair". The shank placement is inspired, showcasing the bowl shape to perfection. Finishing the pipe is a graduated saddle bit, and excellent choice in that a more definitively angular bit would have broken the compositional flow.
