About This Pipe
Poul Winslow has done much, perhaps more than anyone else, to keep the Danish Fancy shapes of the 1970s alive and well. He's also done a lot to update the style, refining the finishing and engineering and, in many cases, tempering the shaping a little. This wild freehand is very much part of that style, with its wildly undulating rim, deeply carved plateau and thick shank. The front of the bowl features a vertical ridge which emerges from the apex of the bottom of the bowl. The deep stain and vertical flame grain enhance this freehand, which is also set up to act as a sitter. And for less than $150, it's also set up to be quite a steal.
