Cornell & Diehl - Bayou Morning Flake 2oz
Good to Great?
This is a classic C&D VaPer, and I enjoyed the flavor, but it was a bit too bold for my palate. That said, I think some aging time will take this blend to another level. The large Perique % is punchy and I definitely get some dried fruit, but it seems to come at the expense of some of the Virginia's sweetness. My hope is that some aging will bring everything together by toning down the Perique and bringing the Virginia forward. Putting this in a jar and will update this review in a couple of years! As The Dude says: "Yeah? Well, you know, that's just like uh, your opinion, man."
Cornell & Diehl - Haunted Bookshop 2oz
Balanced, Balanced, Balanced..and Delicious
I didn't really expect to like this one but it's really a master class in balanced flavors and blending IMO. With a lower moisture content, it's an easy sipper to keep it right at the edge of going out. The flavor is excellent, starting off with leather and black pepper, dried fruit and sweetness coming into play in the last 3rd. Highly recommend keeping the ash tapped out. As The Dude says: "Yeah? Well, you know, that's just like uh, your opinion, man."

Not My Cup of...
I really wanted to like this blend because I generally like C&Ds but, in the end, it just didn't work for me. The Burley completely overpowers the sweetness of the Virginia and while the aroma was amazing, the flavor ended up being ashy, harsh and a bit bitter. Back to EMP and C&D Opening Night for me. (5 stars for both!)
