Mystery Tobacco Review: July 2021

Welcome back to another episode of the Mystery Tobacco Review! For this month's installment, we asked Dana Mahanay, one of our knowledgeable Customer Service Reps, to sit in the Inquisitor's chair and select one blend for us to review in a blind taste test. Like many of us here at Smokingpipes, Dana is a dedicated, long-time pipe smoker and a devout Cornell & Diehl enthusiast (is that a hint? I don't know). Among myriad other responsibilities, Dana specializes in helping new pipe smokers get their bearings — whether it's guiding them toward a particular style of pipe they're most likely to enjoy or recommending a few starter tobaccos to help a newer smoker develop their palate. So tune as Shane, Truett, and I dissect Dana's chosen blend and attempt to guess its components, tobacco family, manufacturer, and name. Did we guess it right? Or has Dana enrolled us in his beginner pipe-smoking masterclass? Watch the full video above to find out, and remember: The best reviews are mysteries (Or maybe not. Still working on that catchphrase.).

Did you enjoy this month's Mystery Tobacco Review? Were you able to guess the blend? Leave us a comment below with your thoughts.

What is The Mystery Tobacco Review?

For those of you unfamiliar with this little game, each month one member of our team selects a tobacco for us to review in a blind taste-test. Then we gather around the camera, scratch our heads, and smoke, all while attempting to guess the mysterious mixture's components, origins, and name. There's only one rule: There are no rules.

Good show, fellas, always a pleasure, thank God it wasn't fresh(Truett). Left me smiling on this one, as I'm getting drunk and preparing my healthy dinner. Love that J.Alan pipe, Shane (A.K.A. Sherlock Holmes of pipe tobacco review mysteries). Good catch on the mason jar. I have a tin of Awakened Elder over three years old cellared away, now I have to dig it up and give it a go. And remember, the best reviews are mysteries.

These guys are the most fun on You Tube. I would like to meet the three of them someday. I would also like to be a part of the staff of smoking pipe. com. But I don't think that would ever happen. Nice job Shane.
