Mystery Tobacco Review: November 2022

Welcome back to the Mystery Tobacco Review, and Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. We certainly have a number of things to be grateful for this year, including a new member joining our review panel: Please welcome to the Mystery Wagon Mr. Alan Britt. One of our Customer Service Representatives, Alan's a staple of our Mystery Cigar Reviews, but this is his first time in the hot seat blind-reviewing a pipe tobacco for this series. We're also grateful for this month's Inquisitor, our very own Gabriel Bass, one of our talented copywriters here at Smokingpipes, who has selected a really interesting aromatic blend for us to review this month. So tune in as Truett, David, Alan, and I smoke through Gabriel's chosen mixture and attempt to guess its manufacturer, components, and name. Did we guess it right? Or did Gabriel leave us with a little Turkey Day humility? Watch the full video to find out.

What is The Mystery Tobacco Review?

For those of you unfamiliar with this little game, each month one member of our team selects a tobacco for us to review in a blind taste-test. Then we gather around the camera, scratch our heads, and smoke, all while attempting to guess the mysterious mixture's components, origins, and name. There's only one rule: There are no rules.

    • The sound quality on this month’s installment made it hard to watch all the way through. I’m guessing it’s the new video service? Hopefully next go round it’s better as I look forward to these. Thanks.

    • Miss the chemistry with Andy. No offense intended to the other participants. They did a good job but the interplay with the often bemused Andy is especially enjoyable.

    • Not to worry, @Bill. Andy has not left the series :)

    • @Bill I agree and I’m happy to hear Andy will be coming back! It was nice to see some new faces and the others were very good and helpful. I could get used to them given some time. Another great video. Love this series. Unfortunately, I am not versed in aromatics and was left drawing blanks but was fun to play along with a bowl of Gawith FVF in an old Poul Olsen Silver Dot.
