Villiger: The Perfect Inbetween Cigar
I love smoking a pipe. It's comforting, soothing, and just generally pretty darned fun. However, here at Smokingpipes.com, we're kept fairly busy. As I'm sure most of you could appreciate, smoking while typing at your computer is one thing, but here we're constantly on the move, and if its not entering in new pipes, it's running back and forth to either the site or pipe library, or even back to restoration to visit Romeo and Erick, our restorers. Unless you have one heck of a clencher (and jaw), a pipe can get in the way. And that's where a good cigar can come into its own.
I wasn't much of cigar smoker before coming to Smokingpipes. In fact, my first cigar was at a pipe event at our store, Low Country Pipe and Cigar, at an event for Drew Estate. I tried one of their MUWAT line Kentucky Fire Cured and was hooked. It's the taste and aroma of smoking a pipe, but all wrapped up and ready to go.
There are times when I don't even have the chance to smoke a whole stogie. Somewhat of a problem being that cigars aren't exactly known for being relight friendly. I browsed the site and realized that several of the brands we carry also offer cigarillos. So I tried out some Hoyo de Monterrey's Excalibur Minatures and also Romeo y Julieta's Minis. They were great little cigars, but not for me, being just a bit milder than what I was after. Then I discovered Villiger Minis. They were just right for me! Bold, plenty of flavor, and convenient. They come in 3 flavors: Espresso, Sumatra and Vanilla, and so, of course, I set out to try all 3.
Villiger Minis
Where I was expecting the Vanilla to be my favorite, it turned out to be Espresso. The Espresso flavored wrapper just had a way of making the natural flavors of the cigar pop, so that while the Vanilla were great (I was also hoping for a just a bit more vanilla flavor) the interplay between wrapper and filler just didn't quite hit the mark like the Espresso did. The Sumatras are probably my second favorite, but that's just the coffee drinker in me talking. All three have quickly become my go to brand while working. In about 20 minutes (if not less) you can smoke your Mini and bounce right along to your next task at hand. And that certainly works for us busy beavers here at Smokingpipes.
Give these delicious little cigars a try, and please, let us know what you think. Maybe we helped you find your new "inbetween" cigar, maybe you have another you could recommend, but either way, we'd love to hear from you in the comments section below.
