About This Pipe
This is a bit of a departure for Poul Ilsted. With a very tiny annual production, Danish legend Poul Ilsted is known for his elegant designs, shaping and his meticulous attention to detail. I have become very accustomed to seeing his dramatic panel work, but with this piece, he has rendered a fairly (I did say "fairly") straight forward, conservative Danish dublin. The grain is overwhelmingly straight, flaring to a medium width flame grain for a short interval on the port side.
