Barling's Make Ye Olde Wood (405) (EL) (T.V.F.) (Pre-Transition) Tobacco Pipe

Like all pre-transition Barlings, the briar for this pipe was selected from trees that had over one hundred years of life on this planet, prior to harvest. Even with such an august group to choose from, Barling rejected ninety-eight percent of what was presented, making them some of the fussiest buyers that a briar harvester ever had to deal with. The block that Barling used to craft this must have been formidable, and the carver did a magnificent job of shaping. Pretty much anywhere the eye lands, it is rewarded with either cross cut grain or birdseye. I never use phrases like "once in a lifetime", but this pipe has me very close to doing so.
