Savinelli Autograph Freehand (00) (6mm) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe

What can you say about the pinnacle of a company's work? Especially when that company is the Italian giant Savinelli? I have only been privileged to see six "00" grades in my life, this will be the seventh, and this might well be the nicest that I have viewed. The straight grain of the bowl, crowning is a conservative plateau, and then the impossibly tight continuity of the same, sweeping down the shank as wind-driven grain are as close to perfect as one is likely to encounter on this side of the veil. The shaping is conservative for an Autograph. I can only imagine the smile on the master's face who created this one. I'm pretty sure that I have that same smile as I hold it.
