About This Pipe
The gently elongated form of this Benni Jorgensen bent Apple's bowl strikes me as something more than just a tweaking of form for its own sake; I suspect he may have also intentionally used this shift in shaping to better show off the ring grain in profile, which it does indeed do just fine.
