About This Pipe
A great deal more liberal in size than many a G designated Old Antiquari that I have run across, somehow this pipe passed through the selection process without a G stamp, nor (thankfully) the bump in price that comes with the addition of the initial. This is Castello's much sought after shape 67, a form that Castello itself describes as "Medium large thick walled Pot/Billiard with a "domed" shank and flat base on the bottom of the bowl and shank" (give them credit, whatever frustrations may arise from a somewhat fluid grading system, they are downright unambiguous when it comes to shape verbiage). One peek at the grain will leave little doubt as to why the Old Antiquari is one of the most famous sandblasted lines in the world.
