About This Pipe
The dramatically sweeping grain which seems to be rushing outward from some point above and behind the transition works very well to accentuate the shape of this bent dublin, with its swooping stem gaining visual momentum as it expands towards the inevitable collision with the bowl. This briar's shaping would have been every bit as graceful with a straight up-and-down grain pattern, but here we see it brought to life with unique dynamism, like that of a torrential rain, or crashing wave.
