About This Pipe
To say that Costello has different ideas about hawkbills. Well, you can see that clearly enough, right in front of you. This is more often called a bent pot (as we are). The beak-like nature of the stem and shank is certainly maintained, as is the use of a stout bowl, but beyond that, Castello is completely doing their own thing. In place of the round, often ball-like bowls of say, a Radice, Castello uses something quite akin to a pot, albeit with a heavy, full heel to help accentuate the beak-ness of the stem. It's an unmistakable design to be sure, and one which they've made work very well.
