Smooth Bent Egg with Olive Wood Tobacco Pipe

Claudio Cavicchi tends to create designs which, although very Italian, are still more conservative than much of that produced by his contemporaries. Tends to, I say, because every once in a while he still throws us something like this - a supple, flowing, flourishing bent Egg sporting the proportions of a Stack. This is a beautiful piece, clearly, with its effortless lines, bands of flame grain down either flank, and subtly contrast between the softly-rounded bowl and the flaring diamond shank, joined together by a seamless transition. Even so, the feel in hand of this smooth, lean, yet still curvaceous number is, if anything, even more pleasurable than its aesthetic beauty.
