About This Pipe
As whimsical as it may sound, one thing that often pops into my mind when I come across examples of this very Eltang style of Horn is the term, "mer-pipe" - as in the pipe equivalent of "mermaid". As sleek and continuous as its line and form may be, there's definitely a very different style of dynamic going at one end vs. the other, with the rim and upper bowl jutting, sleek, and modern, and the shank rolling and roiling, in a gesture equally reminiscent of a powerful swimming motion, or of a furtively splashing wavelet.
