About This Pipe
Named after Castle Malahide, found north of Dublin, the namesake is quite appropriate for this solid, masculine, classical briar, as the original Malahide managed to remain in the hands of the same family line from the late 12th century, until 1975. Alas, where Oliver Cromwell, the Battle of the Boyne (where 14 family members fell in one day), and anti-Catholic legislation failed to sever the Talbots from their ancestral home, the taxman ultimately succeeded; the manse and its lands finally being sold to the Irish government in order to cover inheritance taxes.
