About This Pipe
Savinelli demonstrates, through the Ontario Rusticated, that Canada is not "a country that lives without an identity," to paraphrase Marshall McLuhan's infamous quip. Rather than being an overt stereotype, the pipe invokes the essence of the landscape through its deep bistre color, glistening bark-like rustication, and the vernacular characteristics that define a Canadian pipe. Distinctly a Lumberman, it sports the Billiard/Canadian style bowl shape, the long, flat shank of the latter, but a saddle rather than tapered stem. The pièce de resistance, however, is the national flag colored band encircling the saddle bit, a proper homage to The True North.
