About This Pipe
For a guy who hasn't been at pipe making for very long, this Blowfish is really something else. Similar to the last Blowfish we saw from Scott Klein, this piece is singularly structural, boasting clean cut, rather distinguished lines (this pipe perhaps even more so than the last). Because of the nature of a few of the seams in the briar, particularly around the bowl-to-shank transition on the pipe's left side, and on account of the multi-stepped vamplate stem, the composition takes on a decidedly Art Decco aesthetic when fitted to the black and white variegated acrylic accent. The pipe has a really lithe, graceful feel to it, which is especially nice here considering the relatively small size of the thing. It's pretty evident that under Alex Florov's tutelage, Scott has quickly come into his own as a carver. And I can't wait to see more.
