About This Pipe
I love running across classics from Ser Jacopo. Just as Danish iterations of classic English shapes bear the stylistic influences of the Danish modern design tradition (Sixten Ivarsson, Poul Rasmussen et al), Ser Jacopo's classic shapes still bear the stamp of their maker, Giancarlo Guidi, who created the Pesaro style of pipe design. The subtle forward cant of the bowl (just the barest hint, really), the slope of the back of the bowl and the transition from shank to bowl all contribute to make this classic billiard quintessential Pesaro. Usually one looks for Pesaro styling in the more avant-garde compositions, but really it's just as easily found, and just as strikingly beautiful, in more quotidian classic shapes made by Ser Jacopo.
