About This Pipe
This Picta is fourteenth in a series of pipes that was created by Giancarlo Guidi as homage to master Vincent Van Gogh. The specific inspiration for this pipe appears in a piece from his Nuenen/Antwerp period, painted in 11/1884, now titled "Still Life with Coffee Mill, Pipe Case and Jug", and features a beautiful conical bowl with a slender bead at the top that defines the rim. The line of the shank and the juxtaposition of the same to the heel give the composition a hit of a hawkbill, and fashions a splendidly stylized piece of sterling silver at the mount.
