About This Pipe
What would have been, and very easily could have been, an extraordinarily fetching bent Acorn in its own right, is here shaped to boast a strong, cambered front panel that's pressed along the sides and delicately lipped at the anterior side of the heel. The shape, a careful cross of the Danish Shield and that beautiful Acorn, is what Lasse Skovgaard calls a 'Duck's Foot'. If you're a fan of sandblasted work, there's even more to love here, as Lasse has such a way with the medium. Eschewing the craggy, deep blast, here we've a tactility that seems to hardly scratch the surface of the briar, yet the pattern left behind is bold, clearly defined, and rich in texture. Really, this is a tremendous offering from the carver.
