About This Pipe
Tonni rated this grain a 9 (out of a possible 10), and frankly I am not sure where the additional one went to. The grain of both the bowl and shank is truly fabulous, with a taut straight grain wrapping the bowl, an exquisite birdseye on the rim, and zero bleed through of the differing grains above or below the form's signature beading. The bowl has a wonderful shape, mimicking many elements of a silken hot-air balloon, even down to the impression of a rearward compression created by a pushing wind. Finishing this fabulous composition is a stunning ferrule of cocobolo, capped with the slenderest imaginable boxwood at the mount.
